Increasing Resource Efficiency and the Use of Renewable Energy Sources at Baltazar d.o.o.
The project was co-financed by the European Union through the Recovery and Resilience Facility
BALTAZAR d.o.o. began the implementation of the project “Increasing Resource Efficiency and the Use of Renewable Energy Sources at Baltazar d.o.o.” in 2025 and successfully completed it on 28 June 2026. The project was co-financed by the European Union through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (2021–2026). Funding was awarded under the call for project proposals “Support for Companies in the Transition to an Energy- and Resource-Efficient Economy” (Reference No. NPOO.C1.1.1.R4-I1.02).
The objective of the project was to increase the company’s resource efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources in order to improve the sustainability of its production, reduce negative impacts on the climate and the environment, and promote the circular economy. The project included investments in the modernization of production technologies — enabling a higher share of secondary raw materials while reducing primary raw materials — and the installation of a photovoltaic power plant for the generation and use of the company’s own renewable energy.
The project comprised the following activities:
- Installation of a photovoltaic power plant;
- Replacement of production equipment to improve resource efficiency;
- Project management;
- Communication and visibility activities.
The successful implementation of the project resulted in increased resource efficiency and greater use of renewable energy, the establishment of conditions for further green transition and circular economy initiatives, a reduced negative impact on the climate and the environment, and the preservation of existing jobs.
Among the expected long-term outcomes are annual savings of 211,317.01 kWh in delivered energy, a reduction of 33.6 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, annual primary energy savings of 316.55 MWh, the installation of 0.25 MW of additional renewable energy generation capacity, an increase in renewable energy in gross final energy consumption by 243.52 MWh per year, an increase in the share of secondary raw materials replacing primary raw materials per unit of product from 28.62% to 35.21%, and a reduction in primary materials consumption by EUR 0.0189 per unit of product.

Certification of Baltazar d.o.o.'s Business Operations
Co-financed by the European Union
In August 2025, the implementation of the project “Certification of Baltazar d.o.o.’s Business Operations” commenced. The project received co-financing through the call for project proposals under the grant scheme “Support for Companies in Product Certification and the Implementation of Management Systems” (Call Reference: PK.1.3.04), administered by the Croatian Ministry of Economy. The project is co-financed under the Competitiveness and Cohesion Programme 2021–2027.
The project represents an investment in the preparation, implementation, and certification of management systems in accordance with internationally recognized management standards and market-recognized certification schemes. The total project value amounts to EUR 119,473.20, with an estimated implementation period of 18 months.
Project objectives and expected results
The project’s primary objective is to enhance the international competitiveness of Baltazar d.o.o. by obtaining internationally recognized certifications and creating the conditions for the company’s continued growth. Through this project the company will significantly improve its business processes by introducing the following certifications:
- ISO 27001 — Information Security Management System;
- ISO 45001 — Occupational Health and Safety Management System;
- FOGRA PSO — Process Standard Offset certification for print quality standardization.
Within the printing production segment, Fogra PSO certification will establish a precise and repeatable print quality standard, eliminating colour variations and reducing production corrections, which will significantly reduce customer complaints and generate material cost savings.
The implementation of ISO 27001 will improve control over access to sensitive information, strengthen IT security, and enhance protection against cyber threats, while ISO 45001 will ensure the systematic identification and management of workplace risks, reduce work-related injuries, and improve employee safety.
